There is real power when you have a clear understanding of your values. When you understand what you genuinely value, your actions will follow. If you watch a person who strives to uphold their values, they don’t need to tell you what those values are because you will see it in their actions.

Our actions show others, but more importantly, show ourselves what we truly value. If your actions don’t match your values, you need to take a step back and ask yourself if this is something you really value. If it is, then you need to take action to uphold what you hold dear. 

In our role as family leaders, do our daily actions uphold and demonstrate our values? This is how you create an environment that builds upon and drives home what your family values. We can’t say our family values love when we don’t show unconditional love for those in the family. We can’t say we value hard work when we don’t teach our children the value of work.

Start today with your family values. Start today with your family actions around your values. Talk about them often, so everyone knows why these are your family values. Real clarity comes from activities that we take in our home to show what our values are. Define and take action around your family values today.
