Treat Me As I Can Be
Treat a man as he is and he will remain as he is. Treat a man as he could be and he will become what he should be
– Ralph Waldo Emerson.
You could call this the golden rule of parenting leadership. Helping kids grow and become the best version of themselves means that we need to help them see into the future. We need to help them create their future. The future of our family is how we treat one another.
This does not mean that if we want our child to become a doctor we treat them in a way the pushes them to be a doctor. When we talk about the person someone can become it is not a profession or some worldly title. It is the traits and characteristics our children can enhance to be happy and successful in life.
Treat them in a way that helps them become hard workers. Treat them in a way that helps them be confident. We need more people in this world that look out for others. This behavior is learned in the home by how we treat one another. Your children are amazing people who will live up to the standard of their potential if they can catch that vision. Help them by treating them not as the person they are, but who they can become.
